Default High RPM, cant get into gear!!!

So I have a 10 camaro... I finally hit the track and I was getting jammed and had to short shift this thing all day just to race! If I tried 6000-6300 rpms ( ideal ) it was like hitting a brick wall I had to keep my revs around 5700-5800 to have a chance, any more and forget it! I noticed it on the street a few times, but trying to race is a joke like this I have 27k on the stock fluid, would a good fluid help? It would grind 2nd or jam 3rd, only when I was try to push it to 6k!

Flush and bleed the fluid is always the first thing on the transmission/shifting troubleshooting list.

I've had similar issues with the 1-2 shift on my 2011. I did a little internet research and discovered that we are not alone. There are numerous people having this type of issue with the TR-6060. There's a ten page thread on it at Camaro5. GM has replaced a number of transmissions and the problem is reoccurring on some of the replaced ones. I can tell you that I have 2500 very easy miles on my car because the only two times I've tried any high rpm shifts I ground teeth on the 1-2 and got out of the throttle before it would fully engage. I'm hoping that GM will do a recall but for this type of repair it's going to cost them a fortune. I've read some Ford and Dodge guys having issues as well.

Anybody who is having issues should see their dealer. Gonna have to start raising a stink.

There are inherent issues with the clutches in these cars that cause this to happen. You can try bleeding but that typically doesn't help. LPE made a bandaid clutch return spring.

What you need is a clutch in the car that is designed to take abuse. If you modified the car in anyway you will see more and more clutch issues arise. Give us a call and we'll go over your options.

I will definitely be addressing the clutch in the coming months. The transmission is ok for now.... I hope this is a clutch issue. It's a whole lot cheaper to replace a clutch. That being said, I sure am reading a lot of bad press about the TR-6060 having issues. I'll know for sure when, after I replace the clutch, the issue reoccurs..... man I hope it's the clutch.

So I've been doing a little more digging and I stumbled across some info regarding the clutch master cylinder. When reading through the description of what this part can alleviate, it describes my shifting issues exactly like they occured. Hmmm..... the fix keeps getting cheaper..... I like it.

Ok, so I made some phone calls and it looks like I'm out of luck on the master cylinder. There is nothing for my application. That completely sucks.

Have you checked the fluid in the reservoir? Is it dark or discolored? Having a weak/worn Master can do this and so too could the ratcheting SAC-type pressure-plate. We have 7 different single disc and 4 different Super-Twin offerings for this car, as well as steel and aluminum flywheels. I have a quite a few customers running these hard on the strip and road course...so I am confident that we can help you. Take a look at the links below and let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks,

We've had this happen a few times on new Camaro's we've worked on at our performance shop. Swapping the clutch out fixes the problem 100% of the time.

Jeremy,

Yes, I did check the fluid clarity and level. No issues there.

Jeremy and Steve,

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be doing some clutch shopping. Earlier than anticipated but, it is what it is.
