Hello - my daughter's 09 mustang sitting at a Ford dealership in Texas waiting for service department on Monday(had to be towed to dealership).She was driving home, cruise control engaged in 5th gear on highway, car suddenly bogged and lost power, she could not get the car out of 5th gear and heard a metallic sound from the engine or tranny-she wasn't sure. Any theories as to what occurred?? I'm concerned they may take advantage of the fact she's a young kid w/o any automotive knowledge.Thanks in advance

Sounds like the transmission was trying to seize up probably due to lack of fluid inside the transmission. Has she had the car serviced lately at a lube facility? If so, they might have not properly serviced the transmission. Either filling it with the wrong fluid or failure to refill it at all has possibilities.

It's a V8, she had a 15K mile service completed several months ago.

Ok so its a TR3650 model trans. How many miles are on the car?

So its pretty low milage then. Sounds like a fluke type deal but it should be under warranty either way so let Ford figure it out.

Ok thank you for your input, car is no longer under warranty but she has an extended warranty plan for major components.

Man that sucks. Like said, sounds like lack of fluid and heat siezed it up rather good. Not like it was hard shifting and broke something inside...
