Default Advice??! Drop transmission WITHOUT removing exhaust?

Ok so the deal is I need to replace my flywheel...I was about to untertake the pain in the *** task of removing my ARH exhaust, but it looks like the transmission can be unbolted and slid back enough to remove the flywheel WITHOUT removing the exhaust.

Has anyone ever tried this??????

The thing is it took me 3 exhaust, a dozen disassembles to get my exhaust leak free...last thing I want to do is go wiggling and lostening things up if I dont have to. Please advise!!!
Thanks!

UPDATE:
Tried this, didnt work. you have to take out the Y to get the tranny back far enough. I have an ARH catted y and header FWIW.

I dropped my y pipe on the recent clutch install & it was way easier droppin the trans but a bbk y is easy to r&r & doesn't leak.

FWIW you must take out the Y-pipe if using ARH catted y, ...lame

Not to poke, but I was able to squeak a T56 Magnum (1.7" longer) out with a TSP ORY installed. It was close and I had to clear the Y with the input shaft within the bell housing, but it worked. I guess it depends on your merge and the arrangement of the pipes themselves...

ive done it both ways, MUCH easier with no Y, but ive done it with the TSP ORY. also taking the exhaust loose lets the motor/trans drop down alittle further giving you more room to get the hardware(Pass side top bolt is a pain!).
