Heat, penetrating oil, voodoo.. still cannot pull it.

I keep breaking teeth off the gear and breaking the puller. Ideas?

theres no snap ring or anything holding it on so..

Are you talking about the driven gear? If so it's possible the splines have worn into each other and would require a small twist in the opposite direction of normal tq. Mine was completely loose and slid off by hand so I cannot help too much. Maybe a really big snap-on puller at a shop?

I've had two evil 5/6 clusters over the years that required cutting off with an angle grinder. Broke several pullers, including the KM tool designed for this job.

I'll try the twist and if that doesnt work... on to cutting it off.

Do you have a hydraulic press and a bearing separator?

If so, clamping bearing puller upside down (so it's resting on the flat side rather than on the taper) under the gear and pressing the main shaft thru may work.
