Default GM Factory External Slave?

First, no, this is not a GM vehicle. I know you get a lot of RX7/LS1's on here.

Quick details.
1993 RX7 w/LS1/T56.

The Slave/TO bearing issues that are prevailent on almost all these vehicles annoy me. My buddy just had to do a clutch/slave cuz his slave blew out and smoked his clutch.

The question is, GM makes an EXTERNAL SLAVE and I was curious if anyone has installed one of these? I cant seem to find a write up anywhere. This winter I am putting a clutch in, either LS7 or McLeod, and I will be getting a new slave of course, but I would prefer the External one if its a viable option.

Search hasnt returned anything for me. Only thing I can find is when swapping to a cable clutch (which I would rather do..) you need the mustang cobra T56.

Anyone have any experience with these?

There isn't an external slave option for the LSx vehicles, they are all internal.

Give us a call when you're ready to purchase a clutch and we'll get you taken care of.

See, thats what I thought...BUT, go to GM (I work at a Honda dealership that is attached to a GMC/Buick etc, really nice for my swap lol)

and they pull up the VIN off my crashed car, and BAM, there is an external slave. I just couldnt figure it out..still cant.

Recommendations on a slave then? Any better ones then the factory delco style?

Stock OEM slave is fine. The AC Delco part number costs less than the GM part number but works equally well.

Thanks, with my GM discount, I get parts at cost, so even then probably cheaper the GM way. If I remember, it was like 80-95$ for the factory slave.
245$ for the external.

Ill try to get a part number for the external, see if I can cross reference it with anything...try and figure out why it pops up for my car then.

I believe that the external slave cylinder is used on LT1 cars.

Yes, there is an external slave on the LTx's.

We've got slaves that are direct from AP, they also come with a one year warranty. If you buy a Premium Monster Clutch you get a slave with it!
