high mileage T-56 shifting weird? ideas-recomendations
my car has little over 200K on it, alot of it highway. I took it on a couple hundred mile trip over the weekend and its been kinda notchy but noticed when we got to destination that between gears felt funny. no noises, no grinding but something is going on. almost feels like clutch isn't disengaging but it is. double clutching helped. its been easily driven all its life not abused - thoughts on this? been thinking its time to visit Jason at TDP?

If double clutching helps, I'd look into hydraulics first. Especially if it's still the original master cylinder.
Possibly the pressure plate is getting weak and not returning enough fluid to the master.

before you dive into the tranny....jack rear up and secure on jack stands. engine running, tranny in gear, clutch pushed all the way to floor...do rear tires move?
if so you have a hydraulic issue and you are not getting full disengagement or your clutch is in need to replacing but more likely hydraulics are going
easy test and costs nothing. If tires do not move....than now look into clutch/tranny
what "might" help resolve "notchy" shifts is change fluid to Redline D4 if you want to try that

OK just jacked it up and tested this with pedal depressed and in gear there is no hint of movement at the wheels I belive the clutch is fully disengaging. and at this time it was cold and hadnt been driven when this started it was after a 200 mile road trip. and today it seemed to be able to switch gears with no issue what so ever so maybe temp related?
all the hydraulics have been replaced and most recently the slave exploded one day, limped it home maybe 3/4 of a mile w/o clutch, pulled trans replaced it and the disc and bled the system good. The trans has 200K on it and I drained and filled it maybe 40K ago when I did new clutch and the pilot bearing was dust so it was replaced too.
any more thoughts guys?

well you verified the clutch is "disengaging"....so your issue would be internal.
since its been 40k mi on fluid, you could try Redline D4. It has proven to reduce notchy shifts especially in cold weather.
a 200k mi the tranny is closer in need to some internal attention than not. You really won't know until you pull tranny, inspect clutch & pilot bearing and have the tranny looked at.

I kind of figured internal I was hoping a trans builder could advise whats going on with it? other than this it works good no noises, grinds, popping out of gear-nothing its had an easy life as both I and the original owner are older and majority of mileage is highway
