Default chirpin' 2nd

an LS1 M6 should be able to chirp 2nd w/o much effort right? mine wont even do it when i shift at redline....but it WILL do it when i downshift into 2nd going around 40mph. whats the problem here? it's not the driver, i've been able to do it in all my other cars.

Chirping the tires when DOWNshifting?!?!? That sounds very stupid and painful to your driveline. Match revs or dont downshift.

Everything plays a part i.e. weather, tires, etc., but your clutch has to be weak too if it's OEM on a 2000.

I remember totally roasting second and chirping third pretty easily on cold & dry winter days when my ride was new

~60K miles later, I finally replaced my clutch with the Z06 setup 'cause my stock one died. The fist time I got into it, the roads were a little damp and the rearend came around for a visit when I hit 3rd on the highway onramp and I wasn't even near the redline It caught me by surprise but it was pretty cool to see how much torque to the wheels I've regained.

I'd go with a spec3, plans with cars ALWAYS get bigger. I have a 2 and really wish I had a 3 now. You can feel a big difference just with a 2, my buddy has a 3 and it feels even better, and it's streetable.

The Kuhmos are not really great for hooking up so it definately has to be a weak point in the clutch IMO

i've been having the same problem..bought the car in jan and could never chirp second on a 01 ss...i'm guessing it still has the original clutch. I've always thought it was weird..cause i could chirp second in my old focus...and I could chirp third in my sentra spec v. I guess i'll find out if my car sucks when i get s new clutch.

Stick a nice h/c combo on there and chirping anything won't be a problem.
I could sometimes chirp 3rd 4th with stocker. dont downshift and make your car chirp. that is just ignorant.

with the stock tranny mount on an m6 hard shift make it go week. thats what happen to me at around 30K so i replaced it and the shifts feel more solid less tranny movement. i am not saying thats whats wrong but something to check for.
