Reverse is making a loud noise!
I have an M6 and it makes a loud noise when I go into reverse. This noise only happens when I've been driving around for a while or when I use reverse alot within a short period of time. So everytime I go into reverse it makes a LOUD *** noise kinda like a grinding noise. Can you guys help me out?

sik you are just plain wrong. The T56 has a fully synchronized reverse. If you clash while shifting it is either due to a clutch not fully releasing or worn synchros. If you do no have probs shifting into other gears, its prolly the sync.
BTW , most modern manuals have a synchronized reverse( note I said modern).

Thanks calhoon. I know this first hand because I've had to replace my reverse synchro. Mine used to grind going in sometimes, and other times it would engage and then buck extremely hard and jump out. Ended up waiting too long and had to replace the reverse synchro and the gear. I took my trans out and gave it to Cottman. They did the synchro and gear parts and labor for about $350. I just don't have the tools, time or guts to rip the internals out and mess with em.
If you have the tools and time to mess with it yourself, the parts aren't that bad and it's probably one of the easiest portions of the transmission internals to get to.

I just got done replacing my (reverse) gear, synchro, blocker ring, and shift fork to fix the problems that i have been having with reverse. I did it all myself and have never messed with a transmission before. The tranny is back together with all the new parts and reverse feels like it should. Got all the parts from LS1Joe (sponsor) and used a writeup from ls2.com to guide me while I did the rebuild. The biggest thing is having the tools (I spent around $60 on the tools), the time to do it, and then putting everything back where it came from. If you take your time it should go smooth.
