Default Slave quick disconnect..

As for the teflon ring on the quick disconnect do you put it into the male part to release the slave line or do you pull the teflon apart and out?
I know it's a stupid question but I wrestled with it for a bit and was worried about breaking that teflon ring so I figured I'd ask before doing something dumb.

push it into the slave and pull the line out away from the slave. Use to flat blade screw drivers to do it

I must be doing something wrong, I just spent 4 hours on this motherfucking "quick" disconnect and it's still on there. I push the teflon in as far as I can and then I push the line in but once I try to pull the line out it just pulls the teflon back out and doesn't disconnect. What the hell is going on here?

It makes all the difference to push in on the line and hold it as you push in the plastic ring. That takes the load off the spring tabs that the ring is trying to spread open. I hate using the screwdrivers! They're chewing up the ring. Wish I knew where to get the tool!

Yeah, I'm afraid I chewed up the ring so much that it won't go in enough. I'm not sure if that's true or not but I've not spent about 5 hours on it with no luck.

The J number I got from the dealer was J-36221 but no one had it (napa, carquest, dealers) and when I called the snap-on dealer I only got a machine. I ended up just dropping down my master cylinder.
