Default Transmission problem please help!!!

O.K. I just installed my transmission that was rebuild with package 1A from T-56 Rebuilds.com I also installed fidanza aluminum flywheel and a spec 3 clutch. New slave cylinder, but used my old master cylinder.The problem now is my gears go in very hard and as i release the clutch it shakes alot. Any ideas to what is going on???

The clutch may not be disengaging all the way, or you have a peice of crap spec like I did. Mine shook so bad that my torque arm kept comming loose. Is the spec broken in yet? If so, take it out and do some 4-5k dumps with it and that should clear some of it up. When you say its hard to go in do you mean when your stopped or while your moving?

Its hard to go into first gear @ a dead stop, in fact it wont go in at all unless i put it in 2nd then move to first. And no its not broken in yet , about 5 miles.

Well then most likely your synchros are going out. How many miles are on the car?

If its not disengaging all the way then its a problem with the install, maybe somthing with the shims used. It seems odd that 2nd would go in and first wouldnt though.. hmm I just noticed you said fresh rebuild well the syncs were replaced so that shouldnt be the problem. Did you install the clutch yourself?

Did you bench bleed the hydraulics? It could have air in it which may keep it from fully disengaging.

The best way would be to take the slave and the master out of the car, but you dont need to do that. I would suggest getting a friend and have them pump the clutch while you open the bleeder. Or get a mity vac, and do this http://performanceworks1.com/ls1_clutch_bleeding.htm

A fresh tranny is pretty tight and notchy, mine was. But after a few miles it loosened up and shifted great. Give it a little time. Also what tranny fluid did you use? I use Pennzoil synchromesh with great results.

I have the same setup:

* fresh rebuild by Rockland Std Gear; and
* new slave; and
* new spec stage 3;
* new Fidanza alum flywheel;
* new Spec billet light weight PP.

I had tons of problems with shifting.

Upon hard acceleration it wouldn't release from first or second. I would actually have to slow to a craw to remove the shifter from the gear!

It would grind shifting gears.

Problem with mine was improper bleeding of slave. I developed a remote bleeder hose. It allows you to bleed the slave from under the hood vs under the car and it allows you to do it right too!

It doesn't do you any good at this point however, as it requires the removal of the trans to install it in place of the std bleeder, but that's what I did. Trans was out three times and now it works fine.

Let me know if you intend to remove it and I can get you one.

PM me if interested in a remote bleeder.

steve
