Default Ram HD & adj. master cylinder???

Has anyone installed a Ram HD clutch and needed an adjustable master cylinder? I had one put in my SS and 420 miles later the clutch burned up. It was letting the gears loose about an inch and a half down from the top. I had another one put in but this time without the shim. Now I have to put it almost to the floor to disengage the gears. ???

I have that same setup. I have the shim installed and the master cylinder is adjusted to the same length as the stock one was. No problems at all for me.

So I take it that you installed an adjustable master cylinder right? Where does your clutch let go in the pedal?

So an adjustable master cylinder is definitely recommended correct?

What kind of power are yall making and is the clutch holding well?

Ya I have the adjustable. I just have it set at stock length. It engages about 1inch off the floor which is right. You should have a about 1 inch pedal freeplay. Im just a bolt on car so not much power really. I can say that the pedal has gottem much nicer to drive since the clutch has broken in not nearly as stiff

I have the stock master with RAM HD PP and disc with the shim that goes behind the slave. I have about 425 rwhp and mine engages just right. Prior to this it had a RAM HD disc but they didnt have the shim installed and it made my slave start leaking and caused it to wear out in about 8k miles.

installed one when my slave cylinder went out. so far no need to ajust but it has less than 500 miles on it. it just seemed like a good idea just incase I needed the adjustability later on.

btw I did install the included shim behind the slave cylinder as well

my powergrip HD engages too high. the spacer was used but it still has the stock master.
so im guessing an adjustable master will lower the engaging point on the pedal?

Does yours engage like an inch or two from the top?? Mine did and it only lasted 420 miles. I was told that the problem is the master cylinder and I saw first hand why you need to have the pedal lower than that!! Master cylinder going in next month with spray!

it engages only like 1/2 inch from the top :\
what happened to the clutch after that?
so is the adjustable master cylinder the answer?
