I've never replaced a clutch so I don't know for sure.....but you should be able to tell if it is an actual BURN smell. Could just be residue/coating/whatever of a new clutch burning up...and maybe it'll go away after some time... I wouldn't worry about it - maybe call the installer and ask them if it should be of concern?

Probably smelling the friction coating on the disc breaking in. Don't beat on it right away, give it about 200-500 miles of normal stop and go city driving to break in properly. Probably smells kinda like burning brakes?

A little bit of smelling the disc material is normal (especially if you're slipping the clutch a lot). If you notice any abnormal slipping (6th gear low rpm, low speed, full throttle roll on will tell you) or it continues past the break in period I'd start to worry a bit. The disc could be slipping for a number of reasons. The important thing is to let it break in and not beat on it.

i just installed my LS7 clutch this past weekend and it stunk like hell. But that is to be expected with a new clutch. Like said above - dont beat on a new clutch or will you be in the marked for another new one.
