Default tranny install trouble

So I put a new clutch in my ta and upon reinstalling the trans I have gotten it lined up and it pushes in to about an 1" at which point it stops, the slave cylinder/throwout bearing ar up against the prongs on the pressure plate, is this what is keeping it from going in further? if so what do I do?

I was told from other members that your suppose to loosen the bleeder on the slave to get it on there easier. I had the same problem when i did my first clutch but didn't loosen it so i had a very hard time. So, Try loosening it first.

Just save yourself anymore time and go to a hardware store and by longer bolts to guide it in the rest of the way. I struggled with mine for nearly 2 hrs before I said **** it and went to the store.

Trust me on this....longer bolts is the best solution for this.

Once you get the tranny all the way it, back out the bolts and then put in your stockers. 4 is all you'll need.

i also just hit the bellhousing bolt holes with a hammer to give it the extra push it needed.

The slave keeps the tranny from going up against the bell properly. Use some elbow grease or longer bolts.

My slave never touched the diaphram, or maybe it did but it didn't put up a fight because the bleeder was open.

The bitch for me was to get the input shaft seated straight into the pilot bearing. It tooks me hours to get it lined up correctly.

I just twisted the tranny untill it lined up correctly. You could of even twisted the output shaft.

I had the same issue when changing out my tranny. I ended up using a ratchet tie down strap ran from the front cross member and around the base of the tail shaft. Once I put a bind on with the strap, I kept wiggling and pushing/pulling till one of the bolts started. When the bolt started, it started to pull up. I then alternated bolts in a criss cross pattern till the tranny was pulled up. The longer bolts would definately aid installation, just my situation was different. I don't live close to an auto parts store or hardware store.
