Default Broke the tranny again

This thing is really pissing me off. I lost the tranny on Friday in the middle of BFE. Had it towed 50 miles to my grandfathers in AZ. Theres a guy in town that has a t56 but he's not sure if its for a LT1 or LS1. Is there any way to tell besides the input shaft? He says its a Borg Warner if that helps any.

Does anyone at least know where I might be able to find the input shaft length? The chevy dealership doesnt even know. Freaking morons.

Does it have the bellhousing with it? The LS1 has the Slave cylinder bolt into the front of the tranny and it slips over the input shaft so there should be two holes on the front of the tranny. My LS1 tranny says Borg Warner on the tailshaft but everything else says tremec.

Thanks for the help. I'm not gonna go with that guy now. I'm gonna tow it back to San Diego and my Dad's gonna look at it or have his tranny shop do it. I called the shop and the guy said they have a bunch of problems with the t56s. I'm so tempted to get rid of the car right now. I'm sure I'll get over it though.

Doesn't look like you have a whole bunch of mods done to it, must be really beating that thing hard cause these T-56's can take some abuse.

How exactly are you breaking the T56? Judging by the mods in your sig, you're probably putting down ~330rwhp so I really don't see how the tranny can't handle your current power level. I notice you said you broke the tranny "again". Has it been rebuilt, if so then by whom and what exactly broke?

Yeah I pretty much baby the thing. I broke 3rd gear before, about a year ago. I had it rebuilt by a place that my Dad has an in with, Poway Transmissions. They do a lot of race trannys. They pretty much replaced everything. I got into an accident last April or May where I ended up in a ditch. Wasn't really an accident since the guy ramed me, but whatever. When I got it fixed I asked them to make sure there wasn't any damage underneath the car. They said there wasn't. I think they lied or were to incompetent to see anything.

I'd start off with that shop, seems it should last more than a year, and also check under the car yourself from that accident in the ditch just to make sure.

Yeah my Dad is going to tow it back to San Diego and we'll probably have them look at it. Maybe I just suck at driving.

you should not be able to break a freshly rebuilt tranny that easily with barely over stock power.. when you say you broke it what exactly is wrong.. ex... Is it locked in a gear? Makes terrible grinding noise?

I was going 80 in 6th gear. I heard a weird noise, can't really explain it but it wasnt grinding, and it popped out of gear and died. I didn't have much pedal pressure and I couldn't get it into any gear. So I pulled over. I checked the hydraulic fluid and it was full. I still had barely any pedal pressure. I could get the car to start but it would stall when I let the clutch out while in nuetral. I finally did get it into first and eventually all the gears while the car was off. So I tried to move but it would just jerk when I let the clutch all the way out and it would die. Also with the clutch in, if I gave it gas I would get a strange whirring, not really grinding noise from the the tranny.
Eventually I got clutch pedal pressure back so I tried to move the car and It worked. After about 5 minutes though It went back to not working at all. Maybe its the hydraulics. They are new though. I talked to the guy at the tranny shop and he told me that he's had a lot of t56s come in with problems.
It's really frustrating because I love my car but this transmission isue is really making me think of dumping it and getting something else. But LS1 f-bodies are so much fun.

Sounds like it could be some sort of clutch problem to me.

Well, I should know for sure next week. Hopefully it's just a clutch although it's only a year old as well.

It sounds like a hydraulic issue to me. You might have some air in the system, so I'd try bleeding it first and see if that fixes the problem.
