Default Don't know what to do next!?

Alright. I've got a 99 z28 with a couple of mods including: header back 3 in exhaust, ls6 intake manifold, slp intake, short throw shifter, tune, msd wires, panhard bars, adjustable coilovers, and upgraded brakes. I've got $3,500 to spend and I am looking for the performance mods for power. Any insight would be appreciated!

But all the heads/cam setups I look at pretty much exceed 3500

And what kind of power gains would I be looking at? What kind of injectors? Currently I stay dead even with my friends 02 procharged gt

Shop around, hit the classifieds, you can get the parts seperate for under 3500. as a package, and new, you will go over.

The stock injectors wont hold much more than you have now. (They get pretty high in duty cycle.)

Search on here, see what the dyno number are for heads/cam cars.

And also guys. I meant to say that stroker kits I was looking at were around 3 grand. Which would be a better idea? Like a 383 or 402 stroker or just like heads/cam and rear end gears?

Ill bet with a stroker you will be into to it way over 3500.

Timmy has a good point with the rear axle, its only a matter of time.

What all would I need for a rear end? I still think I want 4.10s. Don't think id be happy with 4.30s. IMO that's too much lol.

And if I built the rear end I probably wouldn't have enough for H/C.

yep, Id look at doing the H/C cheap, (but right) then saving the rest and slowly adding to it for a rear end.

Im no expert, but that MS4 is kinda big for street use. Do you DD the car, or is it a track car?

What are you building it for?

I have been weighing my options with the stick, and Im going to stay lower with a 224 or 228 sized cam. I still like driving mine on the street and in the mountains.

Patriot heads, 1250
cam, pushrods, head bolts, gaskets, etc... $600

so cam n heads for 2k, save the rest for rear end.

I'm running a Torquer V3 from TSP 231/234 .643 .598 on a 111 LSA and I have zero driveability issues. Find a good tuner and you can daily drive a "big" cam no problem.

Don't even think about a stroker. Unless you can do ALL the work yourself, $3,500.00 isn't going to be nearly enough to touch a good stroker shortblock. Even if you can, you won't have any funding left to upgrade the heads, and spending money on a stroker motor is pointless if it can't breathe.
Check out Vengeance Racing's TFS As-Cast Kit. Comes with virtually everything you need to do a H/C swap, and falls well within your budget. That's the route I took two years ago.

Here is the Price list I've been working on for head and cam. I'm going with a 228R but plug in any other cam you're thinking of... I'm doing the work myself. They have a great write up on LS1howto.com and there are a few threads I've read from people that did it themselves and they give pointers and tips about the install.

$1,625 Texas Speed Head/Cam Package (PRC 5.3 Heads w/ 228R, pushrods, springs, retainers ect...)

$40 LS2 Timing Chain

$330 FAST 36lb Fuel Injectors

$180 Gaskets/Head Bolts/Antifreeze

$20 LS6 Intake Gaskets

$20 NGK TR6 Spark Plugs

$62 Poly Motor Mounts

$500 Dyno Tune

$140 LS7 Lifters

$165 Texas Speed LS6 Ported Oil Pump
Total $3,082
