Default Rear tire size

Just a quick question. Whats the biggest tire you can put on a 99 ss camaro with the stock rear? I have 275s on there now but want something bigger if its possible.

Depends on the wheel size. If you have stock 17x9s, you can fit a 285 no problem. If you are willing to get wider wheels, you can go all the way to 315s.

If I go 315's would I have to cut anything? Or would it be better going with a different size rim? If thats the case what size rim do I need to go with?

I've been running 285/45 for a while and there is still
room (17x9.?? SS chrome 10-spokes). Anything bigger
would look clownish on those rims though. Need to run
higher than stock pressure to get them to quit squirming
as it is.

There are people that run 335's, but I think the most common upgrade is 315's. To run 315's you should get a rim that is 10.5 to 11 inches wide. All this is covered in the sticky someone posted above...

I just recently put new tires on my 02 ws6 and I wanted 315s but I looked it up and I would of had to get bigger rims so I just went with the 275s and I think they still look pretty damn good.

if you need to hook get DRs.the bigger the tire, more weight the more hp robbed for less ETs.with good suspension parts get the litest DRs for you current rims and tune the suspension to hook.look at the weights of all tire.

if u get 11inch wides and 315s they fit np on the back, might have to jack it up by axle though but i put mine on and they fit np, and for stayin 275s but DR to save weight is good for track but if u drive it alot i went wider to gain traction but not get the wear of a DR, so i recommand wider if u DD this or somethin, my .02 lol
