Default LS6 intake questions?

hello all,

I'm looking for a LS6 intake (as most LS1 owners are lol) and was wondering if i can re-use my stock fuel rails and throttle body? also, or is it better and/or easier to just use a LS6 intake with fuel rails and TB already on it?

Your throttle body, fuel rail, and injectors fit just the same as the ls1 intake. The only difference is the ls1 intake has a dome on the bottom and the ls6 is flat, hence it flows better. You will need to buy the ls6 front coolant crossover pipe and blocks for the rear coolant ports in the heads.

Don't waste your money on ls6 coolant tubes. Shave the bottom ribs off and run your original ls1 coolant tubes. Then there is coolant that goes to the back of the head. Do a quick search on the subject. A lot of people don't run the ls6 ones for cooling reasons. Some have had problems when they block the back off. Save your money

Just take a chisel and knock off the ribs off the bottom of the intake, then the LS1 coolant lines will clear the bottom of the intake

It's not as much about saving money as it is about keeping coolant flowing to the back of the head to aid in heat dissipation. Saving money is just an added bonus

X2 on shaving the ribs..just make sure you use new foam under the intake.

+1^^^...chisel or dremmel the fins off the bottom. Then just bolt in...No reason at all to purchase new coolant lines..

Learn something every single day. This place is good stuff. Don't mean to thread jack but, what about mounting a BBK? Do you need to purchase the coolant lines then?

Exactly. Everything I've read has indicated it actually cools better to chisel the bottom rather than buy the crossover pipe. one of the rare cases you don't get what you pay for.

Nope, just modify the stock ones as needed.
