ls motor swap... sugestions?
so i picked up an 04 1 ton that had been crashed with 80,000 miles and i pulled the 6.0 out of it planning to throw it in my 85 chevy short box. at the moment i have a load of cash to throw at this thing and im hoping to get it between 5-600 hp before dropping it in the truck. sugestions on first buys? anyone have any ls6 intake/tb for sale? also what cam goes best with the stock heads on this motor? sorry this is my first ls motor and just need a few tips to get me going.

Define a load of cash. If you want easy 500-600HP I would suggest building your rotating assembly to handle boost and run either a turbo setup or a supercharger. Just remember generally more power equals more money.

With that price range and the power numbers you want to achieve perhaps you should look into a nitrous system. Keep in mind with a stock motor depending on the tune and how hard you are on the motor you will be on borrowed time. BUT that is the cheapest and fastest route to get the numbers you want.

you also could use lots of torque. Try the performance trucks site, same login and password you use for this site. You will find it more helpful. http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/

First I'd stop and think. You have 2-3k to invest...now. I think your probably good on your 6.0. (I'm about to begin a 6.0 build myself, though I'm looking for an LQ9. I may end up with an LQ4 and do a piston change) The 500 hp figure IS possible, normally aspirated. 600 hp...and streetable? Dunno. First thing I am going to do is scrap the heads from the LQ motor and get some L92's and a cam change. That will give me a great performing foundation to build upon...or leave alone as this combo might just surprise you. Something like this, and a 100-125 hp nitrous would toss you in your 600 hp or so. Doable with your 3k. Doable now... That said do what you will...
