Should I get WS6 w/ A4 or M6
Hey all, I will be getting a 98-02 WS6 hopefully soon and was wondering the ups and downs as well as your recomendations on which transmission to get. Lately I've been driving around town in my father's (german) V8, and I kinda feel that a car this fast doesn't really need stick. What do you guys think. ~Future T/A owner

If you plan on pushing it hard, I would get a stick. The 4L60E automatic transmissions they put in these cars are weak. With an aftermarket clutch the M6 will rock and still hold up to more punishment.
However, if you put a high stall torque converter in the A4, they can be fun too.
Either way, I think you will be happy.
Good luck,
Al

M6 if you want to bang through the gears, A4 if you want to be faster. A M6 can't touch a high stalled A4. That is mod for mod of course. If you plan on racing 1/4 miles, get the A4. M6's are more fun to drive though.

A4 is so much easier on the driver. I've had a couple of sticks and traffic, eating, drinking or smoking sucks with a stick. Plus the A4 will will handle most bolt on's fine. Until the N2O!! One rebuild so far, but the car only has 21,000 mile on it. I would worry more about the rear end than the tranny.

i just like the way a 6-speed sounds going down the road. it takes a while to get used to dropping it into a gear if your going to race from a roll, like a 50 punch or somthing. but with an m6, it feels like your part of the car, part of the machine, when you have to bang the gears out. feels like you and the car have a partnership to win while with an a4 it would seem like you just stand on it and hang on. some might like this but im m6 all the way. plus the ole' 1-2 punch of an m6-ls1 combo brings a tear to yer eye!!

I have an M6 and I love it....
My dad had a C5 Vette and it was an autotragic and everyone always commented on how a sports car should not even come with an automatic transmission. He always wished he had gotten a stick...
just my 2 cents

I bought an A4 for traffic reasons . The TC is on the way but I'm worried about the 4L60E at the strip. If I were you I would test drive both since you are unsure but I'm still kicking my self in the ***, especially since my buddy just bought a '01 WS6 M6. Just seems funn to drive.
