Default Fast toys ram air vs free ram air?

I did the free ram air mod last weekend. I have seen the fast toys ram air kit for $169.00. In your opinon/experence how much better is the fast toys mod vs. the free mod?

I think I could buy some sheet metal use the mig & make my own for less than 170.00 dollars. Would you?

if you are good with metal working id say go for it. its a pretty simple design, and it would be some entertainment. hell, if youre good at it you could start selling em yourself! to be honest i might be interested.

Don't forget, there are some inside parts you must do as well, that keep water and extra debris out of the intake. But sounds like a good idea if you can weld.

IMHO its sucha waste of money. make your own if you want, but 169$! haha. you would haveta pry the money from my cold dead hands. all ur doing is cutting a rectangle and allowing more air to flow in. the FRA doesnt really show a significant difference until your actually moving 45mph+. the FRA should be exactly what it says FREE. make your own and save the money for some other goodies.

But in your honest opinion, would you say the FRA is worth it? Or just forget the hassle and leave it alone...?

FRA is definatly worth it, I can't see how it isn't, it is allowing so much more air into the car. You can tell this by how much more dirt gets onto the filter.

Yea, just the hole is a tad larger and you need to drill and such to install the box.

If any of you guys could give me a link with the best, detailed, fool-proof way to do the FRA, then please do so. I've been interested in doing it for a while, but was never sure if it was not only worth doing, but I really want the idiot-proof instructions so I don't screw anything up and do it right.

J/K, but thanks a hell of a lot man. That's actually the best-detailed install for the FRA I've seen yet. After reading through the entire install, I'm pretty pumped about doing it on Wednesday, seeing how easy (and supposedly effective) it really is to do. Again, thanks!

I bought some aluminum sheets today (4 for 20 dollars) and started on making it out of that. So far it will be a 3 peace design. I have all 3 cut I just need to do a few more bends & install it. My father & I have been working on it for a few hours now I'll be glad to get it done. I'll take pictures of the parts before I put them on to so you all if you like.

It works!!!!!!!!!! I just got back from a test drive. There was a noticeable increase in pep & I popped my hood and grabbed my intake, & throttle body and they were cold! Even the EGR valve & stem that pumps hot air into the intake was cold. Here are some pics of the individual parts and after I got it on the car. I didn’t have much to seal the front of the box but I used a 5/8 inch hose and it fit snug to block that area off & increase pressure. I plan on getting some stuff to seal it all up this weekend to finish it but I am glad it worked. I spent about 20 dollars in stuff & 5 or 6 hours of time on this project. I couldn’t have done it with out the help of my father though he has been in metal fabrication for years and he knows all the tricks just using simple hand tools.

if it varies the least bit your ok and as long as you dont try and market it using as name that will trick people into thinking its the same thing like fast boys ram air, etc.

companies that make clone or copy golf clubs are always getting in trouble for that

nice job dude, you just inspired me!

Thanks for the comment. I dont plan on selling them. I dont have the time to make them anyways. I was just glad I could do it myself and save $170 dollars for something else to put towards the car now .
