stupid question... 'stock bottom end'?

Default stupid question... 'stock bottom end'?

i asked myself "why dont i know this"
but im unsure

when someone says they have a stock bottom end, what are they referring to?

They are refering to the rotating assymbly. The pistons, connecting rods, and the crank are all factory.

and if there bottom end is not stock then it usually means its forged and can handle more compression.

it could mean many things.

They may have raised the CR for a naturally aspirated motor, or lowered the CR with the intention of adding boost.

Or they may have kept all the stats the same but replaced the components with stronger alternatives. Or alter the stroke/bore of the engine to increase/decrease the engines capacity.
