LS1 M6 F-bodys get great gas mileage
I just took a road trip from Indy to NJ and got 29.2 miles per gallon in a '00 Z28 6speed. This was with 2 passengers and bunch of luggage and also through mountain roads (penn turnpike). Also had the A/C on most of the way there. I was surprised these cars get such good gas mileage. The EPA rating is 27. I bet I could break 30 MPG if I didn't use the A/C.
The city mileage isn't nearly as good, but I was surprised the LS1 could get better gas mileage than my '90 V6 Lumina.

i used to be able to get 30MPG on the highway with my old 2.73's..now with the 3.42's it has dropped some. Thats why i'm not impressed with these new cars that make it sound so great that they get 31-33 mpg on the highway...when our cars have twice the power..and almost get the same mileage...

When i had my A4 with 3.42's i used to get mid 20's as well. with the 2.73's most i ever got was 28 anyways so not much of a drop as long as you just cruise it along at 70mph. I always tried to keep it under 2K when in saving gas mode.
