just got an ls1....HELP!!
i just purchased a red m6 z28 made into an ss. its a 2000 and i just joined the club. i had a 95 supercharged z28 lt1 but i am new to ls1s. i read everyones postings and i need to know wat the terms mean. for example....lid....cutoffs.......wat does all this mean. also wat is the difference between an ss and a z28. i know the obvious hood and wing but wat about performance. is there really a difference? from wat i noticed is that mine has longtube headers, true dual, no cats with o2 simulaters. it looked like it had nitrous before but i cant tell if its had a ported mass or anything. so someone please answer my questions!

*Lid is basically an air intake
*Z28 and SS is most an appearance package, some came with a better suspension or an auburn differential
*as far as the maf is concerned a lot of people just use the stocker
*first mods are usually lid, ported throttle body, and exhaust (headers, catback, or duals)
Since you have a 2000 you can look into getting an LS6 intake if you don't already have one on there.

Click that link and you can see a picture of the stock ls1. Its pretty easy to tell if you have an after market part on the car.

Read the "So you want to be fast?" sticky at the top of this forum for the rest of the info. I'd just skip down to the first post by 300bhp/ton.

Read the stickies, and then come back with some more questions.

first off sharpe.....i know enough about racing than you would ever know dickface. i just man up and admit i dont know the basics on ls1's! my blown lt1 would ve smoked your candy basic ss 's ***. and i was nt even pushing the full 9 psi. i guess just to let everyone know i am very eduacated on hp i just thought i d ask wats best on the ls1. as for everyone else i appreciate the answers and sidewayz28, if your running a 14.5 with your ride you need to stop letting your grandma drive your car. my 95 stock lt1 on street tires with h rated tires and an automatic ran a 14.2 at 6,200 ft!
