Factory pistons... what about the rest of the assembly? I ask, because if you're using stock rotating assembly, I would'nt even bother. You'll be in there again before you know it..lol

Thank you for the info.

The rest of the rotating assembly will be stock too, I'm doing this just to get the car running, if it only lasts me a few months I'll be happy as long as I can get some seat time

What is the weak point in the 5.3 engine? Rods? Pistons? I've had people give me a "good luck" look when I've told them I want to spray 250 to my stock bottom end 5.3

I thought the 5.3s could hold it considering a lot of people are doing that for junk yard turbo builds?

That's what I don't understand. I've seen a few people now mention that a 5.3 should be sprayed no more than 200hp on stock internals...yet you read all day long about these "junkyard 5.3 1000hp turbo" builds...I don't get it?

Probably has something to do with how the stress is being forced on the internals. Or maybe the ring gaps wish i knew but im definitely gonna stick around and find out lol

Nitrous is harder on the internals than boost IIRC.

Nitrous is harder on internals than a turbo but I guess I'll see if it will hold a 300+ shot

Its all in the tune. We have customers hitting 5.3's with 400+. Will it last? I don't know. Has it been done? Sure. As far as what is safe for us to recommend, 200 is about it. Like I said it takes a spot on tune up to make it work.

Just remember that Nitrous is like a sledgehammer hitting the pistons where "Boost" (turbo/SC) increases as the rpms go up....much easier on parts in comparison.

Off topic. I remember reading somewhere your car is Ford Redfire Metallic, do you know what color primer they used? Grey, red? It looks great!
