Rebuilding NX Solenoids
Hey guys, I had a problem with my nitrous kit the other day, I was leaving Wichita from the Street Car Shootout (that got rained out ) and I was leaving the gas station with some buddies and armed the system and it sprayed!!! Well I shut it off as soon as it turned on and everything is fine but it ended up being my WOT switch is sticking. So I need to get a new switch but my kit is also 3 yrs old. I think it is about time to freshen things up (my car only has 20K miles on it and don't want to pop it yet My question is can you rebuild the NX Solenoids? If so, where can I get a rebuild kit from? Is it something that I can do myself, or will I have to send them in? Any info or suggestions? Thanks guys!!!

Send them in for sure! I would never attempt to rebuild them even if they are simple things because I have alot of respect for the power of nitrous and after 2 motors I leave it to the pros to rebuild mine.

If your comfortable with it, its easy to do. You can go thru Nitrous Daves and he can hook you up with a rebuild kit. The hard part is getting the tower off if you dont have the right tool. I dont, but I use a set of snap ring pliers on the dimples, DO NOT GRAB THE TOWER ITSELF. Other than that, its cake.
DC any power.
unbolt from car, remove noid
remove nut on top of noid
gently slide the "hat" or outer shell of the noid up and off. It will contain the coil, both wires and a washer be sure to remember the order.
remove the tower, be careful, inside is a spring with a "piston" on it.
Clean the noid base.
Clean inside the tower
replace piston and spring
reassemble
Enjoy!

Are the noids a lifetime warranty? I heard that it is a good idea to rebuild them once a year, is this true? Any suggestions for a WOT switch? I just have the manual trigger style. Would a electric switch be a better idea or can I get a heavier duty manual switch? I just don't want to run into this problem again, this minor little part could have costed me a motor.

Yes the solenoids have a lifetime warranty on them. You could go with an electronic TPS switch or switch you have with a new one and get Nitro Dave's switch mounting bracket, it seems to work really well.
