Default Should I use Nitrious?

Ok, watching more and more racing I see Nitrous is commonly used it (even though I'm scared myself to use it) I have seen some cars intakes blow off their cars from that stuff. ANyways was just wonderin if it would be safe to put a whole nitrous system on a 96 LT1 Ws6, mods are in my sig. 126,000 miles and running strong.

What type of shot would I be looking at?

ANyhelp or answers would be awesome!!!!!!!

i'm pretty sure you did this.....but read the sticky up top to give you a larger picture. it also helps to have an idea how much extra power you want to make.

I just replaced my fuel pump not 4-5 months ago. It's not a PERFORMANCE fuel pump, just a stock replacement. Would that be ok??

Thanks!

Any more suggestions? I thought people would have a little more to say on this subject!!

TRUE TRUE! Just got back from one myself. I'm actually really excited about this, I am just thinking about the gains I will get.

I would recommend a compression test first, to verify the strength and balance of the cylinders. Next, limit the shot size to match component strength and tuning abilities. Also, read the stickies about dry vs wet (both tapped off rail and dedicated fuel cells) vs DP. You can expect that a higher mileage engine would have more risk, although thats not guaranteed, theres always the exceptions.

Please refrain from typing NAWSSS, this is not a Fast-n-Furious site. We prefer Nitrous, N2O, juice, spray, bottle, gas..things like that

i sprayed my lt1 @ 130k and it worked fine. Make sure you have good plugs (ngk-tr6) and good fuel pressure and it should be fine with up to a 125 shot IMO. I used a zex 125 dry shot, had a msd and ngk tr6 plugs. But like CAT3 said a compression test would be a good idea.

Ok, I will get a compression test done!

I'll have my fuel pressure checked at the same time, I will also get a gauge so I can moniter it at all times.

Can I pick up these ngk-tr6 at murrays or at auto zone? Or do I order them.........?

oh....and since this is my first kit, should I just go with a dry kit?

Dragframe, what have you heard bad about TR-6 plugs? I have used them, as well as a hundreds of others, for a few years. I use them in my daily driver, same car in my sig. Run them NA and Nitrous. Some ppl really like the Autolites, I cant say good nor bad about them since I dont use them, but there is nothing wrong or "bad" about using TR-6's, that much I know!

BBird..I would say stay wet, or you'll need injectors.

Ok. What are the pros and cons of wet and dry kits. This car is my DD and I'm not planning on using the nitrous everyday, I'm slowing building it into my track car, and would like to get the feel of using the nitrous before I hit the track.

Check out the nitrous FAQs at the top of the page, there is a wealth of information there from the pros who laid it all out for us rookies.

Yes dyno tune makes good stuff but you will need a window switch fuel pressure saftey switch and the tr6s ( i have seen no problems with these plugs). Also the compression check would be my first priority no point to spraying a car that dosent hold compression. If every thing checks out spray away.
