Default Which plug do you read?

I know most engines have a specific cylinder or sometimes more than one that tend to burn hotter that the others. I was just curious to know which cylinder/s run hotter on the LS1 so I could look to that plug for detonation signs.
TIA

You should look at all of them every time.

I'm not able to pull all the plugs, especially #8 in the turn around area. I'm just an average guy, I dont have a tow vehichle to tow my car back to the pit after a nitrous pass. I am open for suggestions though.

#7 typicially runs leaner then the rest, the back plug in the drivers side. #8 is the next worst wone, the last plug in the passnegers side.. the one you don't want to get to LOL. I'd at least look at #7, and if that doesn't look right, then start pulling the rest of them. A couple on each side would be a good idea at a minimum... but I agree with the stateent above, all of them every time would be the smartest thing to do.

Thanks! So the cylinders are numbered like a second and first gen SBC
being: 1,3,5,7 are on the driver's side and 2,4,6,8 are all on the passenger's side?

How are you guys pulling the plugs after a nitrous run? It's kinda hard for me because I have to drive the car somewhere to let that biach cool before I even get my hands near a hot engine. I can see it being easier at the track though since there's generally lot's of room to park the car, hang out and let it cool for awhile.

after a run you **** the car down and pull to the side somewhere on teh return road.. shut the car off as soon as possible. Unless you have a tow/support car that brings your car back to the pits, like an atv, or something like that. As for the hot engine bay, get used to it.

Wink

Check all of them the next day with lots of time to let it cool. If you skip on safety, the juice will drown you.

Agree on #7 first and always check. And if your running a wet kit pulling fuel off the rails, then stick with the drivers side primarily. I have only seen pass side go bad when there was a lot gone wrong, which it can all be seen thru the drivers bank. On a wet off the rail, the drivers side WILL go leaner, all things being equal, before any of the passenger side, to include #8.
