Default Forged 370 Assembly w/Pics......

As some of you know, I've been pretty busy these last few weeks working on some other 4th gen fbody's. This week I got my rotating assembly back from Somers Machine where it was balanced. So yesterday I got started with the shortblock assembly.

Here's a breakdown on parts selection for the shortblock:

-LQ4 Iron Truck Block Bored 0.040" over (4.040" Bore)
-Stock Crank w/Polish (std/std)
-Compstar Forged H-Beam Rods, 6.125"
-Mahle Forged Pistons -1cc
-Clevite main/rod Bearings
-Billet Double Roller Adj Timing Chain
-Ported Oil Pump

Gotta love the LSx engines factory 6 bolt main caps!!! ;D

All Finished with the rotating assembly.

That's it for now.....

Thanks man. CR is north of 11.1. I'm undecided if I want to deck the heads again. If so, it will end up around 11.5 +/-. These new head gaskets are a tad thicker than the ones I used last year (0.040" compared to 0.052" this year).

Allot actually lol.... Still need to relieve the notches in the pistons for use with the L92's gigantic valves lol... These pistons valve reliefs are designed for an LS1 head, but the L92's use a different valve angle with much larger valves, but hey, I got the pistons brand new for CHEAP!!. It's not really a big deal, just time consuming. Then I need to install the cam, finish cleaning up the heads, check ptv clearance, bolt-on the heads for the final time and then install the engine in it's new home!! After that's finished up, I can finish up the rearend and start the car up.

Figured I'd post up some pics of the bullet with some of the painted accessories attached. I'm still waiting on valvesprings so the heads are not fully assembled, they're just mocked-up on the shortblock for now.

Looks awesome, will you mount the coils on the valve covers or do you have them relocated. Also what are you using for the serp. set up on it?

Thanks man, the coils will go on the v/c's for now. The only items the serp. belt is driving is the ps pump, alt., and the water pump. No a/c on this one.... Eventually this will have a single plane Vic Jr intake painted the same, and I'll relocate the coils at that time. Would eventually like some bowtie valvecovers also, or I might just modify/smoothout these stock v/c's.

Well it looks good, I like those bowtie valve covers too, but with the paint work you did those look pretty sweet. What are the specs on your cam again, it seems like I read it before but can't remember. Where you planning on shifting at?

242/250 .611/.619

I'll probably shift around 6800-7000 with this L76 intake, but the Vic Jr intake will peak a good bit higher so I'll shift around 7200-7400 with that intake. I won't know for sure until it's running, but that's why I'm upgrading the valvesprings now. If this cam doesn't work out with the L92 heads, I have another billet cam core sitting here that I'll have ground to some different specs.

LOL,,, thanks man. I just used some of those blue rolled up shop towels and taped it down with clear packing tape. Cleanliness is key to engine builds.....
