thunderhill pictures
woohoo what a blast...
just got back, 2 track days in a row in 110 degree heat - fun fun fun
here are few of the pictures, I apologize for small sizes, did not have time to resize them all properly yet... also my regular file dump, well, took a dump. so lets all hope that tinypic will load the photos, if they dont show up try reloading the page
first, there was some eye candy:
this one needs no introduction, it was nice to see the latest GM bad boy.
this one was unexpected.... too bad she only went on the track twice.
this one was just OMG... seeing those on tv is one thing, seeing them on the track in person is quite an experience. he did not run with us, of course. we all got off the track when this baby was out for a stroll.
now for the track pictures
here I found me a ford! pay attention to the lic plate... i did not smudge this one out, since it is hilarious, considering the driver is a young guy (he was actually doing pretty well in that thing)
being chased by one of these is definitely an honor! needless to say I waved him by shortly after..... but I caught up with him the next lap! too bad he broke down the next day
redline shfting into 4th on the straight and not looking straight ahead?! Am I:
Adjusting AC (remember, 110 degrees outside)?
Getting a ringing cellphone from the glovebox?
Looking at black 06 Z06?
Who knows....
one of the better shots of the car.... ironically, not one of my best moments... you will notice that I am about to somewhat miss the apex cone (late and indecisive turn-in with a little too much speed)
and this brings us to the final story, probably resulting from the situation pictured above or a similar one
just a "little" wide, you can see panic braking - I had already realized the error of my ways.
kicking up the dirt ... not a good sign...
and off I go!
actually it was not as bad as it looks... 2 wheels on the track - or rather, on the curb - proved to be enough (barely) to nurse it back on.
well, that is all for the day. I am going to get me some sleep now, the drive back from CA was pretty tough.

I was at the ALMS race in Portland last weekend and HAVE to go do that track. It is much nicer than PR but does not have any real elevation changes. Oh yeah, the vettes kicked some serious ***! What a great time it was and I met Johnny O'Connel and Ron Fellows. Got to talk to them for a while. Asked Johnny how hard he and Tommy Kenndal were running the Z06 in the Test Drive on Speed. He said they were really getting on it but Jeff Gordon didn't want to push it.
