Crystal Red Tintcoat
I just got my car back from the painter. I switched from pewter to crystal red tintcoat from the vettes and caddys. I'm no photographer at all. I can't get the metallic to show up in pics, but it is very metallic and I love it.

Looks great. Is the engine bay still pewter or any other areas. Was it alot more money switching colors. I have a black ss and i want to do something like bright blue metalic/electon blue or something along those lines.

The engine bay is in 2k satin black ( professionally done, not rattlecan ). I don't show the car and I prefer the old school black engine bay. I hated my engine bay pewter and was almost willing to do it in black even if I left the car the original pewter color. I know there are those who say it's heresy to have a black engine bay, but if its good enough for my dad's 1968 camaro that I grew up drooling over, it's good enough for my ws6. Haters flame on if ya want. I'm a 42 year old man who can't be swayed by kids snickering in homeroom.
I have had this pewter car for 14 years and needed a change. I saw the crystal red tintcoat on a caddy and fell in love. I needed little door dings fixed along with a bubbling sail panel, so I took the plunge and painted it CRT. This car has taken me to hell and back and if you knew the whole story, you would see, it would never effect the resale value of this car.
This is a PPG tri-coat candy and is a bear to paint from what the painter said, but he did an awesome job. He let me watch him mix and spray it. I need to get a decent camera and take pics in the sun and dusk so you can see how it glows.
I can't go to the store without someone asking me about it. I've had two different people come to my front door just to ask me about the "red ws6 out front".

Here are some progression pics (maybe out of order) from bodywork to the base which was a weird copper/brown, to the tinted clear, to clear and then wet-sanding.

Looks sick! I was afraid the carbon fiber would have to much of a gray/gunmetal look for red paint but that looks a lot darker than I expected, enjoy the compliments sir they are definitely deserved

The carbon fiber WAS too grey for my tastes. So we mixed clear with ford black base coat, and sprayed it with two coats, then 2 coats true clear and viola!
I wanted the CF to look like a black ceta top from a distance and then CF when up close and I got exactly what I wanted.
In a couple months, when the car is completely finished, I will take really good pics and post in the general forum.

Yours being black, a color change is easy in my opinion. Leave the engine bay black. You wouldn't even have to paint the wheel wells.

Great color! My GF has it on her Hybrid Malibu... Not a proper comparison but it does get 40+mpg and costed less than $25K. If I could spare the money for a proper f-body I'd do it in a heartbeat!
