Shaving "pontiac" lettering off of headlight cover
Us 2008 - 2002 Firebird owners have raised letters on the drivers headlight door, painted body color so as it's not obvious to most.
I bought a spare cover and would like to know the best way to get ride of the lettering.
- Whats involved in shaving the lettering off?
- The lettering is not only raised, but indented from the underside. I assume that will need to be filled somehow also?
- I know after the body work, the part will need to be professionally painted.

Maybe 01 Badbryd will respond. I know he has done that to his headlight cover.

I just took a sanding disc and ground the letters off one at a time, never broke through and never required any filler from the rear.
I bought a spare cover to just to play around with. Its one of those subtle mods that hardly anyone notices but so worth it!
dont mind the dirt this was when I had just put it on so its got my mit prints all over it

What kind of sanding disc did you use? One from a dremel?

I have an air grinder that I used with some pretty high grit discs from lowes. You could use a dremel but I would be afraid it might go all the way through since you would only be sanding a small surface area. I think I was using 2 inch discs but it was perfect for knocking them down. took an hour or so I think, jut gotta make sure you get them sanded off completely.
