There are many folks running very fast stock 98pcms no doubt. Lots of options open up with a pcm swap. It's a personal decision only you can determine if it is worth it for you.

I actually have HPTuners, but will NOT try to tune a blower set up

I tuned 3 supercharged Vettes in one day, all buddies had the exact same setups, P1SC on Stock Motors sans Headders, All different years. The only difference is that the 98 made about 20 less HP than the 99 & 2000 model. As far as tuning the 98, No problems........
