Default Installed 4L80E. Couple questions regarding HP tuners

So i added the 4L80E to my 5.3. I have an 0411 pcm. I have read about having to do segment swaps when doing this.
Now, in my hptuners, there was an option to change the transmission to a 4L80E. SO i choose this. That is all i have done.
I have driven the car maybe three times since and not far. I would say maybe 3 miles. It shifts through all the gears but feels soft. Also, it feels like it short shifts through the gears. I do have both VSS wired in too.
The fluid looks good and smells good. Doesnt feel like its slipping but i am a little concerned whether this was the right way to do it or is there more i have to do in hptuners?
Is a segment swap still required?
BY just changing the transmission model in HP, is there a chance i could burn down the transmission?
I have not put any power through it yet. (full throttle)

Changing the transmission in HP tuners like what you did doesn't do anything. You still need segment swap. I believe you can email your file to HP and they do the swap and then you upload. And then you are good. I believe it's all free.

Since you have the VSS wiring done you're 99.99% there. I assume you swapped the pins in the main connector correct?

Then, email support@hptuners.com and request that they add the download link for 2.25 beta to your customer portal. Once you download 2.25 beta, install it and there's a sticky on the hptuners forum about doing a segment swap, here it is:

http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...wapper-utility

The last step is to find another hptuners file from a factory vehicle with your same PCM OS (operating system) that originally came with a 4L80e. It's quite easy, your OS # it should be like this: 1252058 (can be found by clicking "OS" at the top in hptuners). Then, you can look in the hptuners tune repository for "1252058 4l80e" and that will be the file you need for the segment swap. Or you can just google search like I did for "1252058 4l80e" and it came up right away. Or just post up your OS # and I'll help you find a file. Hptuners does not do segment swaps anymore, you have to download 2.25 beta and do it yourself. I just did all of this on my Silverado, once you do it you'll see how simple it is.

You can run the 80 on the 60 file just need a few relays and wiring like above. There are a few wrote ups on it.

True but with the relays it's one more potential failure point. The segment swap is just cleaner overall.

I would not continue driving it the way you have it setup...don't risk damage. The segment swap is really easy now, and then you know it's running the right code.

You want to make sure you swap over the Transmission segment AND the Transmission Diagnostic segment.

I only drove it a few kilometres and knew right away it didn't seem right.
They just emailed me back so hopefully tonight I can download 2.25 and find a matching OS.
I want to have the transmission feeling right before I start doing any tuning that involves decent amounts of throttle.

I performed the segment swap and yes it was easy. The car shifts alot better now and the upshifts arent so fast. Downshifts great. Glad that is done with. Now onto doing some tuning.

I have the relay setup on my 05 GTO, E40 and T42. I would like to do the segment swap but can not get anything to come up in HP tuners or Google. My TCM OS is 24231674. I have been running mine for about 6 months---no problems but I cannot adjust the 1-2 upshift. It's way too hard.
Thanks for any advice.

Yes two relays. So much potentional for major problems. The 80e segment swap unlocks the converter every time you come off the throttle. The 60e control it controls it like stock. Either will do the job. I didn't like the constant unlocking and locking of the converter so I swapped to the 60e control.

Good to know. ^^^ I guess I will stay with what works. I thought there was a cure for the converter unlocking.

I just did the segment swap from a t56 to a 4l80e. You can keep the converter locked when you let off the gas, Hptuners added the throttle release parameters to the editor a while ago.
