Talking Post your tips on eliminating bucking here!

I am getting some bucking from 1350 to 1900 RPM when at 0% TP. Should I increase the spark below 2K? Has anyone else fixed a bucking problem? I have a WB and have my VE table close. I was thinking of going to Open Loop SD all the time. I already removed my MAF. It sure is running better except for the bucking...

Bill - I assume you are into the fine-tuning of the VE table. Try filtering your FTC's. I've noticed in the area of bucking, the BEN values are compromised by overlapping FTC 20 and FTC 22

FTC's are fuel trim cells the computer uses for different driving conditions and ben is base efficiency numerator or a factor derived from Actual AFR/Commanded afr

main thing is to make sure that he idle tables and high octane dont change by drastic amounts in those areas. what happens when you go from ftc 20-22, you switch timing table, doing that will create some bucking.

getting all the idle airflow set up correctly is important as well.

you have to find the fine line between spark and fuel, toomuch fuel will make it run like **** as will too much spark. same with not enough. adding timing will lean it out. i would start with making sure the ve is set ok in those areas, may have to lean it out. then move to the timing and make sure it is all in line.

TAQuickness, is filtering FTCs something in efi live?

"Once you start down the [efilive] path, forever will it dominate you"

Filtering does all kinds of cool ****. Most importantly, it allows you to tune with out the need for spreadsheets or database's.

bill - I don't have time to dig it up right now, but take a look at EFILive's forum. There is some good info there about filtering the FTC's.

Changed the spark and it did help the bucking some. It still has some.
Still working on it. Maybe my new PCM OS will help.

Bill , do you have spark smoothing turned off , give it a shot with it turned back on , helps heaps on cammed stuff usually.
