Default Why all the MAFcalculations?

Why all these confusing calculations if HP tuners you can just log what you need. I made a histogram in tuners logging MAF frequency and MAF in g/sec. So if it logs all this why do you need all the conversions? Thanks

i think all that is needed to get a smooth curve and an average of all your logs, not really sure though, i just know either way works, just depends on preference.

Those conversions were needed not too long ago, because those histograms simply didn't exist. The tuning software market has come a long ways in just this past year.

The new HPT 2.0 histograms (and many other tuning advancements) are a new development in technology - prior to these changes in the last year or so there was lots of 'headache' math involved in calculating VE and MAF tables and the spreadsheets helped to ease some of the pain.

You shouldn't need excel for anything now. I use EFI Live and there isn't a histogram I can't make, HPT should be the same. I found that it is much easer and more accurate then using somehting like redhardsupra's sheets.

yea..while the red supra sheets were pretty good....and mine that came from seeing red supra's sheet...
they got the job done....but they were just slow and clunky...
I suppose that if somebody was still stuck in the stone age and using edit or if they had an old old version of other stuff that doesnt have user configureable histograms.then the spreadshets would be useful

but now HPT and EFI have histograms that pretty much do anything you want them to...
so its easy to get the MAF stuff right..
using LTFT/STFT/AFR....all the methods can be done easily with just a click of mouse

I ran a log of MAF Hz against air flow in g/sec. The values were a little off from the stock table so I input those logged values into the table and ran it. It did not seem to do anything at all, did I miss something or put wrong parameters in the HP table?

run it against LTFT ...then do a multiply by % - half.....
you should see something then

use LTFT as your sensor or PID to plot
use MAF as teh table

What about making it a smooth curve, i can never get it as smooth as stock, and its gets it off more when i smooth it, so how can i tune it close to perfect with my wideband and keep it a smooth curve.
