Default Correlation between HPTuner VE values and LS1 Edit VE values?

Units/conversions?

I'm trying to use HPTuner VE values for an initial setup in LS1Edit and am unsure how they convert to one another. The numbers in HPTuners tend to be from 80-100, while the values in edit range from 400-2400. Does anybody know how they compare?

Sorry if this has been covered, but search gets complicated with "VE" only being two letters.

Take the HP tuner file and rename it from a .bin to .ls1 and open it with ls1 edit, then use ls1edit to copy and paste the ve tables.

This method works, I have done it many times.

HPTuners takes the extra effort to display VE as
a percentage for your convenience / understanding;
LS1-Edit leaves it involving the cylinder volume.
That's the difference, although the .bin file will be
on the PCM's terms thus common. From within the
tools however you wouldn't want to cut-and-paste
the displayed value; would want to use Excel as an
intermediary, with the right scaling making a second
table on the right basis for the destination tool.

I do not think you need to change the extension as Edit reads BIN files... I think. It was been awhile since I used it.

not sure how to display the values in hp , But in EFILive, you can change the values in the Ve table to any type of units you want. You just go to the EDIT tap on the top left, then go to properties, then the window will pop up asking what units you want your Ve to show up as.

LS1 Edit uses *.ls1 for the file extension. I used Excel as the go between from LS1 Edit and HPTuners awhile back. HP Tuners displays the VE as a percentage as stated earlier.

I found a few posts similar to this, mentioning that it is a conversion for air in g/mol which is 28.96. I took a supposed "stock" HPTuner 2001 Z28 VE Table and compared it with my stock 2001 Z28 LS1 Edit VE Table that I divided by 28.96 and it gets it close, but it is still quite different. The highest value in the HPT file is 99, with many in the 90's. Dividing my Edit file by the 28.96 my highest value is like 84, with a bunch in the high 70's and low 80's. What gives?

Can anybody confirm what the STOCK 2001 Z28 VE values are in HPT?

The VE Conversion between LS1 Edit and HP Tuners is:

HP Tuners VE = (LS1 Edit VE * 5.12)/(178.33)

Thank you for the conversion, Blacker. How does your equation work?

I ran a stock 2002 SS VE table IN GRAMS through your equation to get the percents. The values are not even close to what Jimmy has for his!

This is what I got:

What is going wrong here?

I ended up just using the 28.96 conversion. The "stock" 01 values I was comparing with weren't stock (they were near stock and optimized). Everything is good now. Just dropped my initial tune in and am hoping to start the car today or tomorrow.

That was the conversion that HP Tuners listed on their website for converting between LS Edit and HP Tuners.
