Default Have searched eveywhere...Please help.. Idle issues???

Here's the short version...
Recently had my motor rebuilt due to a cracked block... The block was re-sleeved... had multiple overheating issues.. replaced water pump, thermostat, radiator, checked fans, relays... all are well... still had to fill my radiator daily!!!

FAST FORWARD.. to present...
Took the car back to the shop.. had them pull the heads... bingo.. the sleeve did not seal, water/coolant going through water jacket..

Block replaced, rebuilt.. finished today.. they tell me my car has a surge now in park/neutral... they say it goes away in drive/reverse... they have check all vacume hoses,IAC,MAF,MAFT, intake(insuring that it is sealed)...

They say it needs to re-learn idle.... they have driven it around the block several times ( so they say)... it has been tuned (HP tuners)..

I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow... they are kind of throwing there hands up....??? The car was PERFECT other than burning water/coolant. NEVER had idle/surge problems... These guys have always worked on my car and has for the most part been right... They are even puzzled??

any help would be great.. I hate to take it to another shop.. but will if need be.. "Could" it need some miles to re-learn?

they are also talking about drilling a hole in my TB....

Here are my mod's...
Comp cam 232/236 595 601 114, LS6 ported heads,FAST 90/90, full bolt on's, headers, Vig 3600....

Your thoughts???

Thanks alot....

Have you had a tune since you got the cam? or did you install the cam when you rebuilt the engine?

If it learned to live with the coolant slurping
it now has to learn back to a dry motor life.
May take a day or two. But with that much
messing around you can't rule out having some
other problem introduced.

Surge comes from things that destabilize the IAC
loop. Slow sensors (like O2s), bad mixture, new
lightweight converter / flywheel, or a grossly
changed airflow demand (low vacuum from cam,
etc.).

Give it a couple of days, maybe disconnect the
battery so you start from scratch on mixture and
idle trims. Wonder if huffing all that water might
have munged an O2 sensor....

Thanks... I'll pick the car up today around noon.. It's a 60 mile trip back home.
I'll drive it for a few days next week and see what happens..

I had just replaced the pass side 02 a few weeks ago... $170.00!!! ( GM)

I am sure that they checked to 02's with their Tech 2....

As long as it runs, drives good, doesn't stall, sputter, die when i am driving... I can live with the surge for awhile i guess in park... I am told that it goes away once the car is put in drive... it also idles just fine..

Thanks for your input...

I also need to consider that the MAF,IAC, have 220K on them...! Yes my car is a DD that i have had since new... You could not tel by looking @ it though..

That's a really clean looking car, considering the number of miles on it.
Did I read it wrong, or does it really have 220K miles on it?
