Default Tunning VE table w/HP tunners

I am very new to this and am trying to figure it out .

My previous attemt netted me+18 LTFT it was running close to commanded AFR at that point . I realized I was doing it wrong then decided to try tunning the ve table first .

I am tunning with NGK widband ,Running at about 14.7 at idle . I then shut of LTFT, forced open loop ,keeped the MAF hooked up because it woun't run with it disabled.and the wideband was pinned at 16.00 the highest it goes .

Basicly took ve error vs. widband table copyed and mutiplied buy % w/paste special then copyed thwe primary Ve table to the secondary table .I made a few changes about 3 logs of light driving and it just keeps having me add to the same spots and the wideband isnt changing much(still pinned at16.00) .I am comanding 12'5 at WOT and 14.7 everywhere else

Am I supposed to continue adding ?The way I am going something dosen't seem right to me I belive I have a stock VE table . I have a 98 SS with a cam ,FAST intake ,LT,30svo injectors . Could I just be that off or am I doning something wrong ?

To tune VE you HAVE to disable the MAF, otherwise youll never get VE right and if you do change it, you wont see it. With the MAF enabled, it will control the fueling and for it to change youll have to change the MAF table.

under 4krpm the MAF and VE are blended. to get rid of fuel trims so far negative or positive just decrease/increase the VE. there are so many ways to skin a cat; there isn't a right way anymore. play with the car and do it however you like. people will argue with me all day long about this....

I dont see why it would dieunless other tables are wrong and the MAF is just band aiding them.

I've tuned some very large cams with the maf unplugged without issue.

When you datalog does your map values appear to change appropriately? Some people have had issues with the map sensor fitting very loose in the Fast intake, possibly causing a vacuum leak. A bad map reading could lead to an endless chasing your tail ve tuning problem.

I having some of the same issues. Unplugged the MAF and car runs like crap. LTFT maxed out at +25. Do I have to reset the fuel trims each time I flash the new VE numbers? They keep coming up at +25 each time I log. Checking for leaks as we speak...

Of course the ve changes aren't doing anything, your car is figuring out the fueling off the MAF (mostly). You need to disable the maf by setting the fail frequency to 0.

Got it going with the maf unplugged, I reset the fuel trims and they look pretty good. Just have a slight surge if I rev the engine, still working on that though.

You have to reset them after you make changes to the ve table, if not your histo will repeat learned data again.

+1 for resetting the Fuel trims. I found that one out the hard way.
