Default Is there any way to bypass having to have the BCM in the car to stay on?

Curious if there is any way to get rid of the security feature that won't let the car stay running if the BCM is not plugged in? I would like to get rid of the box, cuz it's just hangin under the dash ever since I put the dash back in after the 10pt cage install b/c I had taken it out and the car would not stay running. I have no power options or alarm on the car, so that's the only reason it's in there right now. I just pulled the dash back out to go through my wiring and cut out everything that is not necessary and if there is a way to bypass it, I will get rid of the BCM while i'm in there. Thanks for any help guys!

Just disable VATS with your software.

I'm pretty sure I have it off, and it still wouldn't stay on w/o that box in there.

The only thing keeping you from running, I expect, is the fuel
pump relay. Figure out what the BCM is supplying to it, and rig
a simple switched hot / switched ground (I don't know which
the BCM does, but it's one or the other) to that wire. I'd have
to crack a book for anything more useful.

Hey man, which book should I get for diagrams of all the wiring to help me figure out what I can and can't take out, Haynes, Chilton, or something else?

Provided that the VATS is disabled I think you will be ok.

Although the PCM gets a fuel enable signal from the BCM the fuel pump relay is controled by the PCM. You must still have VATTs turned on.

Also...Looking at my Helms manual the BCM appears to supply a ground to the starter relay. Will ithe starter crank with the BCM removed?

Yes, cuz I had left the bcm out after putting my dash back in after the 10 pt cage install and the car fired and would die right down, but if you held the gas down it would stay on, but as soon as you would let go it died.

I'll bet money you still have VATTs enabled in the PCM.

crank relay control ground is controlled by the BCM.

ground it, and dump the "box"
