Default Bung Hole Placement For Lm1

I'm putting in a set up Hooker long tubes and was wondering where I should place the bung. I figure in the y pipe (off road) but not sure where the best spot is for operating. It's an Lm1 unit.

I put mine in the intermediate pipe where the cat's would normally be..... on the drivers side. No issues thus far.

I sort of left that up to American Racing Headers. I know it will be upstream from the cats, but as far as exact placement, I'm not sure. I just specified between 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock and that I need to be able to access it.

I have an LM-1 too, so I asked for the passenger side since I have my LM-1 wiring going through the firewall grommet behind the PCM.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I have mine about 18" from the collector in the y-pipe on the driver's side as I read that the driver's side tends to run a little leaner than the passenger's side.

I mentioned that to Nick at ARH about the driver's side running leaner and he didn't seem to think so, or maybe he felt it didn't matter enough to make a difference. Maybe because everyone's car is different. I don't know. He didn't try to steer me to having the WBO2 bung on the driver's side. FWIW.

That's good to know. Didn't figure it would be much difference either way. If you keep the LM1 portable, you have a crap load of cords running over your lap with the bung on the driver's side!

Exactly, I'd have to run the WBO2 sensor wire across the engine bay to the passenger side (using the grommet hole behind the PCM).

So the idea is 18''s of the collector on the passenger side so I don't have wires everywhere. I was looking at my headers which I am on the verge of getting in the car and I notices a bung was already placed on the outside of the passenger header. Would it be okay to just leave it there or is that to far up the exhaust for a good reading? To hot? I figure the header would be a bad spot.

Does a Lambda A/F sensor (wide band) really care if it is post cat or pre cat?

Post-cat it reads a little leaner, anywhere from .2 to .5, generally. If you tuned for about 13-13.2/1 you'd probably be in good shape (with a post-cat reading).

The wideband sensor needs to be far enough
downstream that its temperature is never "set" by
the exhaust gas temp, but by its heater always.
Header collector may be too hot at sustained
high output.

I put mine in the I-pipe at the trailing edge of the
passenger's door, use the weatherstrip to keep
the cable snug and the meter ends up where I
can look at it. Also easy enough to access it for
install / remove, without needing ramps, I can
get right at it.

So, I should pretty much put in a new one after they Y? Also, when I tune it with the LM1 that far back I should take into account it will actually be a little leaner of a reading.

i just worry about exhaust leaks with the **** muffler clamps i have giving me false readings. Thats why i want to put it in the header collector right across from the stock o2. Is that a Bad idea?

Do you get accurate enough readings that far downstream?
