Default I smell gas

Hello. I recently bought a 95 Formula m6 from my Navy buddy. He had the car for 17 years. It sat alot the last 3 years. Right after I bought it I put a new fuel filter and Magnaflow cat cause the original cat plugged up on me. The car runs great but I keep smelling fuel. Inside the car and outside near the fuel cap. I looked underneath and see no leaks. Could it be some sort of vent line? Anybody have a similar issue?

Does it have cats? If not then it is common to have the smell of unburned fuel.

was a hole cut in the trunk area for a fuel pump change? some guys do the trap door instead of dropping the tank. If a hole was cut and not sealed back up it will smell like fuel.

No hole cut. I'm thinking maybe the vent line at the gas cap area. Keep the ideas coming!!

Evap purge solenoid might be stuck, not allowing the tank to vent properly

I found the top line coming out of purge selenoid which connects near the throttle body was cracked. I temp fixed it with tape and the problem seems to be gone. The smell is nearly gone and when I remove the gas cap I don't get a big release of pressure. Thanks to those who replied!! Now I need to replace the rubber tube and get it fixed right!!
