If I undertand you right...

The Formula had all of the same equip as the T/A except for the lack of ground effects. Leather was option and so were the T-Tops. Both of those items were standard on the T/A in the latter years.

The WS6 package accomplished the same for both cars, hood, wheels, shocks, springs, sway bars, and air filter assembly. Other than the Formula being about a 100 pounds or so lighter than the T/A performance is about the same.

Formula WS6 is the same thing as WS6 Formula. Just flip the two words around!

Here are the trim levels in order:

Firebird (V6)
Firebird Formula (V8)
Firebird Trans Am
Firebird Formula WS6
Firebird Trans Am WS6
Firebird Formula Firehawk
Firebird Trans Am Firehawk

The rarest cars are the Formula WS6 and the Formula Firehawk. Tons of Trans Ams out there by comparison.

Trans Am is an appearance package put on a Formula.

Formula = V8 engine package on the Firebird.

Trans Am = side ground effects, raised hatch spoiler, different nose and rear bumper covers, T-tops and leather are standard on 98+.

WS6 is another package that could be added to either. Includes the twin-scooped hood, 17x9 wheels/tires, different exhaust, raised lower airbox, etc...

Firehawk is a similar package to the WS6, different hood, 17x9 wheels w/ Firestone Firehawk tires, different exhaust, some different suspension items, etc... It is a more rare package than the WS6.

It should probobly be said that the WS6 package and the Firehawk package were "done" by two different companies so that there is no way you could get a "Firehawk-WS6" or the other way around.

True for '98+, WS6s were converted by ASC while Firehawks were converted by SLP. But in '96-'97, both WS6 and Firehawks were done by SLP.

THAT would be true in all cases.
