Default Bluetooth ?

OK so i tried to set mine up like the owners manual say, but when I press the talk key on the steering wheel and say Bluetooth it just says bye? so I take it I have the early 09 that might not have it or am I doing something wrong.

The G8s that shipped with Bluetooth will have a "9L3" VIN. That would the 2009.5 models.

The BT module plugs into the onstar module in the trunk. I don't know if you can plug the BT into a box that didn't originally come with it. I don't know if you can take a onstar box from a 2009,5 and plug it into your car. If you want it bad enough it might be worth a try.

You can contact Chris White on the other G8 boards, he has the Onstar modules and the ability for you to retro the BT into a non-BT vehicle. I thinks his screen name is GTPrix on the other boards.

It is not a simple swap deal, there is some programming that has to be done in order for this to work and also possibly on the on-star side as well.

Thank everyone for the help, I think I'd rather spend the money on mods

If you do not have the factory BT module then the phone icon on the steering wheel will activate Onstar and if you have minutes on your Onstar acct then it will use that to place the call.

Do you have to "hack" the bluetooth module on the 09's? Is there anything I can do with a Tech2 to get it to work?

You will have to mail it off to get it re-programmed, nothing you can do with a tech II.

Not all '09s came with BT - only the 09.5s. If you have an earlier 09 and would like to add BT easily, and don't mind loosing the onstar crap, check out the CoStar boxes that are available. Direct plug in replacement for the Onstar box, and uses all the factory controls to enable BT. That's the way I'm going to go.

Quick Reply: Bluetooth ?
