Anyway to check codes without a tuner ?
I recently got my GTO but after googling I havent found a way to check my codes. On my Dodge charger i could turn my key from off to on 3 times quickly and display the codes on the dash. Does the GTO have something similar ?
I took my car to an autozone they couldnt see anything either... check engine light does not stay on, but sometimes it flashes a service engine soon.

And what exactly does it say when it flashes? That could mean a serious problem if it says anything about the oil.

I had an issue with a bad plug wire and my check engine light would start flashing when my engine revved over 3K rpm. but when i was cruising it would go away. If the light goes off, hooking a code reader up to it wont show anything.
For some reason it didnt trip the light to stay on all the time ( maybe because the cylinder was misfiring only above 3K) anyhow, when i replaced the wires the issue went away.
Just an idea if the CEL is misfire related.
Hope this helps.

When mine misfires my CEL blinks. If yours is doing that, then you likely have a misfire. I, too, have an Innova scan tool, but my blinking CEL won't actually appear on the tool itself unless it's misfiring. But a better tool has shown me which cylinder it came from and how many times. Don't know if that helped you at all...
But I would figure your **** out before you throw it up on a dyno for sure. If they tune with HPT, it acts as a great scan tool, and it should be able to figure out what's going on.

If you have an Smartphone you can get a E327 bluetooth interface device to plug into your OBD port. Then download torque lite and you can read the codes right from your phone via bluetooth. Number of us use it on Android devices. Check the link out.
