Fiberglass fenders

Fiberglass fenders
My GTO was hit about 2 weeks ago. The insurance decided not to total the car out since the frame was alright. The shop owner is a family friend and is going to remove the wing and rear Pontiac emblem for me, so at least I'll get something out of this.
Anyways, the passenger side fender received some damage and needs to be replaced. Originally, I was just going to have the shop remove the GTO badges and weld in the holes. Now I'm thinking about upgrading to fiberglass fenders to save some weight. I found these: RMR fenders, but what I really want is some OEM replacements without the ricetastic vents.
So 2 questions:
How much weight would I save?
Does anyone make something like that without vents?

Sorry to hear about your car!
Any idea how much it will be to fix it all?
Not sure on a manufacturer of fiberglass body panels for these cars. Even though metal is a bit heavier then fiberglass, the lines are usually crisper and they fit the vehicle better.
Generally I get frustrated with fiberglass parts as they take so much final fitment work at a bodyshop to look nice, its not worth the cost.
Good luck on getting your Goat back together, its a sharp car.
Update with pics as you have time.

I found a set of carbon fiber ones, but I'd really like to know what the stock ones weigh. The weight savings might not be enough to justify 650$ in poorly fitting carbon fiber fenders.
I'm just thinking, a carbon fiber/fiberglass hood with the fenders has the potential to cut alot of weight from the front end.

Most aftermarket things like that (panels, hoods, etc.) will require a good deal of negotiating to fit properly. I would just get an OEM replacement and shave weight elsewhere if that's what you're really wanting.

the stock fenders dont weigh much , id think the only light weight might be the c/f , but it really depends on how they are made , i would expect a elcheapo company to much lighter than stock , and a good higher end company to save a couple lbs

Stock fenders don't weigh much. You might save 2lbs. If you want light weight there's other ways to do that and not spend tons of money. I wiped out the whole side of my track car and put a steel fender back on. And I am extreamly picky about weight. My Gto weighs 3140lb with a full tank and me in it.
