Apparently they came out about a month ago, and one of the guys at tirerack said their initial tests of them were good. Let me know if you have them, and how you like them.

They've been out a lot longer than that. I had them on my TA over 2 months ago and was reading about them well before that. I liked them. Cheap price (I had 295/35/18's) and they were pretty sticky.

How do they handle, how are they in wet conditions (I live in Fl), and what other tires have you had and how do they compare to them? Thanks.

Honestly I had them on my car for about 2 weeks then I switched set-up, so I can't really recall. I just remember as soon as I put them on I drove through gravel (cold tires) and gravel stuck to them. I heated them up a couple times and they got pretty damn sticky for a non-drag radial/slick tire.

I've had the stock Goodyear Eagle RS-A's on there, those, and 315 Sumitomo's. The wideovals hooked the best. As far as I can remember they did pretty good in wet conditions as well.

I've got a set due in on Friday. Hopefully after that I can post a review. I'm currently running Kumho Ecsta 712's so I figure that they should hook considerably better. I mainly wanted these due to the Firehawk name and being unwilling to spend the premiums that SZ50's currently cost.

I have them on the front of my car. So far they have been fine. There was a thread in here awhile back. Apperently, they are the rplacement for the Bridgestone Potenza RE-750's.

The guy at tirerack told me these were the replacement for the SZ50. I don't know how good those were/are, but I went ahead and ordered these. They should at a minimum be better than the stock F1's, and I couldn't justify the extra $240 for the GS-D3 (though it was still a hard decision). Hopefully these will serve me and my car well. If not, at least I have 30 days to exchange them for the Goodyears .

Edit: Thanks again to all the people who provided input, including PROGRESS, who gave a nice review via PM. I'll try to remember to give my review of these after I get them.

I got a set of 275/40/17 Firehawk Wide Ovals on Friday afternoon. So far I am very impressed with these tires. The look awesome on the car. At 20 mph in 1st gear, the Kumhos that were on the car would break loose. After about 150 miles these tires seem to hold very well. At the same speed there is barely a chirp and the car squats and goes. The ride quality is better also. As for road noise, I can't give any good feedback. The main reason I bought tires was that I thought the Kumhos were noisy and that the left rear was out of round. After the installation of the new tires the noise stayed in the left rear. I am afraid that I have either a pinion bearing or an axle bearing going down. As soon as I get this checked I will give more feedback.

Firehawk - thanks for the update. Mine are supposed to arrive on Wednesday, though I'm going to be in North Carolina for about a week, so I won't be able to put them on until I get back. I'll also update with how I like them.

Just an update. I got to test the wet traction of these tires over the past few days. I am impressed. It is very hard to get the tires to spin. My car now hooks better on wet pavement than it did on dry with the Kumhos.

I'm also trying to decide between the GSD3 and the Wide Oval (2004 GTO).
I'd been leaning hard toward the GSD3 until I saw the good price (plus rebate) on the WO.
The tread pattern looks more like the RE750 than the SZ50. Wonder if I can expect the reviews on the 750s to apply also to the WO...
Anybody else running the Wide Ovals?

i have never had problems with firestone. hell, the best tires i ever had on my stangs were sz50's. ride,traction,life,wet weather,cost. were better than anything else i have had. looks like i know what my next set of tires will be....

I got mine for $685 tax included before the $88 rebate with lifetime balancing and road hazard from a Firestone store. Another thing to remember if you want to try these is that Firestone has the 30 day test drive. If you are not completely satisfied you can return these within 30 days.

they run really narrow!!! i just put a set of 295/35's on one of our vettes at work, they look like they are 275's. They are atleast a inch narrower then the Eagle F1 super cars. I wouldn't buy them because of this!

by comparing the specs at tire racks web site they seem to be nearly identicle width? How have the tires been working out since you last posted?
