Help please: Can I get a few of you members to take some pics of your rolled fenders.
Hey all:
First I just installed some Boyd Coddington 17X10 smoothie 2's on the back with the Nitto 315/35/17 drag tires and they come out right to the edge of the outside fender. I want to make sure they wont rub. Also I have the Eibach pro kit which lowers it about 1.2 all the way around.
I just had some work done at my friends dad's paint shop and asked him to also roll the lip.
He seems to think the car will never bottom out and if it does rub it wont cut the tire.
Can a few of you members take some pictures of your rolled lip so I can show him and how you did it. He mentioned using a pipe to roll them up.
But he thinks it would be a bad idea.

Sorry these pics aren't real close but as you can see the fender lip (or lack of it) has been completely rolled up flat for tire clearance. Pics would show up best on a white car if someone could post some up for you. These are the best I have......... And yes if your tires are that close to the fender edge the tire will get cut if you don't roll them up at least at a 45 deg angle.

The quarter panel itself is a large part of the structural make up of the rear on the fourth gens. This is why we all get the little dimples above the wheel opening and at the rear base of the roof cap.
When you roll the lip flat be sure to scribe the paint just inside the wheel lip, this will act as a breaking point to keep the paint from peeling/flaking on to the outer panel. If your rolling it flat there is no way to keep the paint from flaking, paint does not stretch. If your doing a minor roll of the lip like most do you will not have any problems with the paint.

The Eastwood fender roller will not roll the lip flat, its a good tool but it wont get you max tire clearance. If your rolling the lip flat dont waste your time with the heat gun.
For most needs the Eastwood tool will be more than enough.

what do guys think of just cutting slits in the lip and rolling it that way with a hammer? Have any of you guys that are rolling them flat have any problems with the outer edge of the fender bending at all?
