Default 2003 Cobra - 5.3, th400, s476 5.52@126

I bought an 03 cobra a little while back with a 5.3, precision 76, th400, and some nice suspension stuff
Been tinkering on it, installing a cage, cleaning stuff up etc for a few weeks trying to get it ready to race

Went to our local car groups end of the year shootout and made a few passes in it

First pass in the car, right off the trailer, went 9.86@151.7
60 foot was a terrible 1.8 trying to foot break the car.
Plenty of street tire cars there pulling up any good rubber or vht

Second pass i decided to try and foot brake it again instead of putting it on the trans brake/2step because of how poor the prep had been
Went 9.85@151.1 in another crap 1.7 60
It stuck a little better and then hazed the tires, short shifted a little into 2nd and ended running almost identical times

Only made 2 passes, both on 14.7 psi
With a little better prep, and some more seat time im pretty confident the car will go 8s

Nice results. I came in here expecting your GTO lol. What's the race weight on the cobra if you don't mind me asking?

9's off the trailer shouldn't hurt your feelings. A couple good passes!

Im not sure on the weight
It was right around 2800
Ive added a mild steel 10 point cage and subframe connectors, but removed a few more things while i was at it
If i had to guess id say right around 3k with me in it

It has a lot more in it, just need to work on getting it to leave
Previous owner went 1.3 sixty foot in it
Our local track doesnt usually prep that well though

Kidding man. 😊
Id say you bought a nice ride there!
High 8's for sure.
They hassle you about no chute?

The car looks sick. A LSx swapped 03 Terminator would be the ultimate car for me. Would love to see some more pics of it.

They told me i needed a chute before i came back, theyre usually pretty lax on tech but there arent usually many fast cars there
Im going back on the 1st for a money race so i hope they dont boot me straight away

The car has a v6 rear bumper and the side skirts are off the car in my garage floor, not a whole bunch of terminator left

Went back out today and beat my personal best twice by the end of the day
Had one of the best races ive ever had against an 03 cobra with a very similar setup as mine
Also won the local stock block shootout and took home 500 bucks

Race vs the cobra

New fastest pass for me in the car 9.40 at 151

Is this all through the terminator independent rear suspension?

And if a terminator heat extraction hood will fit, you should definitely put it back on.

SRA swap = sad face. Might as well take the steering wheel out, too. Sorry, but I'm a twists and turns sort of guy, and I think the cobra irs is one of the few things Ford ever got right.

I'm not trying to say that the cobra irs is a top notch rear suspension, by any means. But it at least shows an attempt to make the mustang TURN. And, it is a legitimate short/long arm suspension, even if it is a compromise retrofit.

Cool car, though. Have fun with it. I'm just sad that it's one of the few terminator mustangs out there, and there's nothing to show for it except the front bumper. Lol.

Don't mean to nickel and dime you on the build, but curious what base fuel pressure your running. I also have the 80 lbers and am out of fuel with twin pumps running 131 mph @ 3700 lbs

Thanks man
Its getting there, really just need to get more seat time before i try and turn it up
I think with the mph it has on the boost its at right now itll go 8s if i can get it to leave hard enough

If that doesnt work ill just start adding boost until it does, or pops...lol

What negative comments? I believe I clearly stated that I find it to be a "cool car".

He is talking timeslips, and laying down decent sixty foot times, so I inquired about if it still had the irs. That particular irs is one of the few things that makes the terminator a terminator.

The terminator hood is a legitimate and functional heat extraction hood, and should probably be used if fitment allows. Heat is bad, hmm-kay? The hood is also one of the things that makes a terminator a terminator.

I didn't say anything bad about this car. Nothing. I said I was sad that it doesn't have much terminator stuff left, but I also still referred to it as a cool car.

If there's any confusion about this, feel free to PM me.

To the OP: I like your car.

Have you ever owned a Terminator?
