MagnaFlow Ultra High Flow and Compact Metallic-Cat Product line
Ok here's the scoop. We have just wrapped up categorization and part numbering for both emissions compliant and race part offerings.
MAGNAFLOW PERFORMANCE EXHAUST METALLIC-CAT
59920 Series – ULTRA High-Flow Performance Catalyst (Center / Center)
Highest flowing catalyst available. 59929 was tested (1000 cfm range @ 28" of H2O) to flow ~600 CFM. The one piece spun body long neck design and 400 cell density metal composite core make for the best flowing catalyst while providing compact packaging and extreme durability.
MAGNAFLOW PERFORMANCE EXHAUST METALLIC-CAT
59950 Series – Compact High-Flow Performance Catalyst (Center / Center)
High flowing compact packaging catalyst. 59959 was tested (1000 cfm range @ 28" of H2O) to flow ~570 CFM. The one piece spun body short neck design and 400 cell density metal composite core make for excellet flow and extreme durability. The compact series uses all the same features as the ultra high-flow but provides for SMALLEST packaging avialable in high performance cats.
NEW to spun body catalyst market.
If even our compact series cannot accomodate your needs we now offer inlet variations for just about every possible condition you may run into. Why compromise flow by cutting into bends for your mid pipes when you can attain the best flow in your pipes and catalyst?

Question though, why not make these have an inlet-ID and an outlet-OD for proper exhaust slip-fit attachments???? (that is, for example a 2.5" ID on one side, and a 2.5" OD on the other side....)
I don't understand why this wouldn't be standard practice.
We are a California based performance company and offer quite a few CARB EO's midpipes utilizing high flow catalyst.
Here is some information on our CA OBDII compliant cats:

These are just some I recall of the top of my head. You do have to realize that a particular vehicle market msut be tested and approved on an indivual baisis with the ARB thus making it more cost effective to cover the largest markets first. To put costs into perspective the testing requires purchase of the vehicle and 3rd party testing at costs in excess of 2000 / test. On average expect a minimum of 10-12 tests conducted per application / model year break. With these kind of costs you shoudl expect a great obstacle for ANY company moving into this category of sales. WE, however, have 5.7-6.0 LSx applications wrapping up our 2006 development schedule. Be patient ... I doubt any other OEM replacement catalyst manufacturer has even diversified their line to include as many "Performance" parts as we have.
As far as shorties and mufflers go, it is the legislation us California voters allowed to be put in place. We put people in place that have designed these laws to not allow devises that move either cats and/or O2 sensors from their orginal places more than an inch. Its not hte fault of companies which are held accountable to making compliant parts in accordance with legislative regulations.

..........

...the more CARB legal aftermarket parts for fbods the better ! Having CARB legal cat replacement options would certainly make life easier for lots of us owners.
Replacement factory cats are outrageously priced !! I was quoted ~$1,500 - and you can't legally get them from a junkyard etiher !!

LMAO A truck or POS Dodge like my gas milage doesnt suck already. I wouldnt waste money for LSx development for a high flow shortie cat...imo its a lose lose..when you can switch out long tubes every 2 years. My gripe was that the cali companies still produce non carb products for "off road" use when there isnt a use for them here.
if you needed some replacement cats i am sure texas has an abundance of them seeing that they really dont have strict emission control.
Bad30th - I had a extra set of low mile cats you could have used if needed

What your asking to have happen or at least saying is you wish California based companies did, is stop making "off-road parts?" I'm confused ... is the performance industry not based on racing developed parts trickling down to street use cars? You don't want this to happen?
