Lt1 Heads on 350 small block - Valve clatter
I customized my lt1 heads to fit in an old 350 and it runs good and all, exept there's some valve clatter and i have adjusted the rocker arms twise now but the noise comes back after short period of time..
Specs about the engine: cam is 272° and .454 in lift, 1.6 rolling rocker arms and standard push rods and valve lifters, everything is standard in the heads.
my friend also did this conversion, has everything the same exept he has the standard rocker arms.
So my question is this, Is there some difference in the height of the heads, rocker arms or valves that makes this an issue or is it not enough oil pressure into the valve lifters?
any good ideas?
Thanks, Anton.

I am going by memory here (it has been a long time since I looked at a set of LT1 heads).
1) Pushrod Guide Plates - I think the LT1's had self-guided rocker arms and older SBC's used guide plates. You need one or the other...but never both.
2) If you kept the original rocker studs, they may not work with the newer roller rockers.
3) Are the rocker arm nuts (or polylocks if that is what you are using) coming loose?
Those are just a few ideas to give you something to look at.

Works well exept for the valve clatter, you need to weld two coolant holes on each head and two bolt holes for the intake manifold and drill new ones. And make holes for the coolant on each head that faces front of the engine and i think thats it
